Too much to ask for?

I am thrilled to announce that Romi has gone to her forever home!

On Saturday, Scott and I traveled two hours South, just past Charlotte in order to visit her new family.  After seeing Michelle (now Kele) go to such an amazing home, we tried not to get our hopes up – thinking that another great home may be too much to expect.  But it wasn’t!!!

When we arrived, we were greeted by Romi’s new doggie brother, Sonny.  Immediately, I was struck by how much he resembles Romi.  They don’t actually LOOK super similar (although a little bit).  But, his bubbly, outgoing, constant-tail-wagging personality was identical!  Add Romi to that and there is enough doggie happiness in that house to rival Disney’s Goofy.

I was a little nervous about introducing the dominant Romi to a new dog.  Therefore, Scott and Romi’s new dad made sure to take them for a long walk first.  By the time we got back to the house, Romi and Sonny were loving all over each other.  They wrestled in the yard, chased each other around the house and it only took about five minutes for Romi to start stealing all of Sonny’s toys.  Fortunately, Sonny seems to be the perfect match for his new sister!

Romi’s new papa is a police officer with experience on the K-9 unit and her lovely new mama knows more than anyone I have met about Shar Peis.  They have a beautiful home – that is also doggie friendly (a combination we have yet to tackle – we lean wayyyy to much on the doggie friendly side).

We received an update already (my favorite thing ever) and it sounds like she is doing very well and making herself right at home – I would expect nothing less than that from Romi!

Initially, Romi and Michelle both had several denied applications when they ent up for adoption.  I was very concerned we would never find the right fit for them.  But, Erin (AARF’s Dog Team Leader), told me to be patient.  She promised the right families would come along.  She was right!  These homes were well worth waiting for.

The house is very quiet without Romi… but it is a good quiet, knowing she is safe and loved.

I am so very happy to hear about Romi. Am working on a blog post about our Sunday afternoon walk with all three “kids” and how well they did.
