Dr. Pepper

It is always dangerous for my Mom to come to visit when I have a foster kitten… she is a cat lover and she always seems to take the kitten home.  That is exactly what happened with Dr. Pepper.

I was working at the Humane Society when a tiny kitten was dropped off.  There was no space, but the guy who found the kitten offered to make a $100 donation to the Humane Society if we would “make room”… at that rate, I was willing to sacrifice my house for a few weeks (not that I could have said no… look at that face!).  The white kitten with tiger markings was under the two-pound weight limit for shots and therefore, had to go into foster care until he grew up a bit.  I took the kitten home.  Dr. Pepper seemed to be the perfect name for his feisty, bubbly personality.

About a week later, my Mom came down from Wisconsin for a visit.  We all enjoy watching the crazy kitten dash around the house, teasing the dogs and hiding in their food bowl.  Mom had come with the intention of finding a doggie brother to adopt as a companion to Buddy.  The minute she held Dr. Pepper, she knew she had found his new brother, even if it was a cat.

It ended up being the perfect solution.  Dr. Pepper appears to have no idea that he is a cat, instead instantly becoming best friends with Buddy.  Mom reports that the two cuddle next to each other to sleep, they lick each other’s ears and Dr. Pepper launches himself off of furniture and onto Buddy’s back, playfully egging him on.  The two are inseparable.

You just can’t choose who you fall in love with!

Poor Fred... no idea what to do next!

Love this post! Yay for your mom and for Dr. Pepper. Looks like the dog-kitten thing is working out well.
