Oh, baby baby

Ba-baby, baby…

Several weeks ago, our area suffered several major rain storms.  The flooding washed an entire litter of puppies away from their mama and they ended up in a ditch, covered in mud, hungry and helpless.  Amazingly, a good Samaritan found them and was able to seek out help when mama couldn’t be located.  Less than 10 days of age, their eyes were still closed when they were found.

Another rescue was able to help with some of the litter and a few days later, Allie and Gator (get it?) joined the list of dogs that will forever be part of me.

They were around two pounds each, barely able to stand/walk and their eyes could not focus yet.  We believe they are Australian Shepherd mixes.  I think Allie looks a little like a Brittany Spaniel.  But, their DNA is certainly undetermined.  They will likely be medium to large size when they are full grown… but that is always just a guess.

Just about two weeks after coming to stay with me, they started to eat solid food.  No more bottles!

These two have been extremely easy and fun fosters.  They are quiet, adorable and very eager to be loved all of the time.  It is difficult to get a good photo of them, as they always want to be as close to me as possible.  They are now six weeks old and will attend their first adoption fair on Saturday!  I have a feeling I won’t be able to enjoy them much longer… someone else will be loving all over them soon!
