A Christmas Angel

Sometimes, I suppose a dog comes into my life at just the right moment, for just the right reason.  The new puppy has officially been named Eve.  There was much debate over her name and a close second was the name “Bumper”.  But, she is so delicate, dainty and feminine… I felt Eve was a better fit.  Not to mention that a constant reminder of her past isn’t pleasant for anyone.

Eve

Eve is truly a little Christmas Angel.  Stuck in a kennel, to restrict movement while her leg heals, this 14-ish week old puppy is amazingly well behaved.  She never barks, cries or begs.  Instead, when she sees me, she shakes with excitement and her tail bangs against her kennel in joy.  At most, she makes a little whimper, I pet her head with reassurance and she settles back down.  She is eating like a champ and putting on weight nicely.  She absolutely loves raw hides and enjoys a good squeaky toy.

Eve is so sweet that she practically drips with sugar.  My face is constantly being covered with her kisses as she spreads her holiday cheer.  She adores people, loves being held and is extremely affectionate.

I have to admit that this Christmas was less than ideal for Scott and I.  We spent most of the day packing, the rest of it recovering from too much fun the night before.  The holidays are always a little hard, being nearly 1,000 miles from home.  Yet, somehow, being able to help Eve made this one a little brighter.  Fostering her and knowing that I make her world safe, fills me with joy and reminds me of how fortunate I am…. now that is a Very Good Dog.

Not yet. She had kennel cough last week and had to be held out of the fair. But, she is doing well and has a best friend named Bailey in her foster home. She is growing fast into a gorgeous dog.
