Update: Cricket

Remember the beautiful white cat that was hanging out in our laundry room??? Well… good news… she is on her way to finding a forever home!

Last week, I went by the Humane Society to have her scanned for a microchip. She HAD ONE! Sadly, both of the numbers were disconnected… essentially that means the chip is useless. But, we did find out her name is Inky (ironic for an all white cat).

The demand for new homes for adult cats is so overwhelming that it can take a year to get a cat into the Humane Society… yep, that is right… a year! So, I had planned to have Cricket with me for a long time. But, it just so happened that there were no declawed cats up for adoption at the moment and none on the waitlist. Therefore, in order to keep a variety of different cats at the adoption center at a time, she was able to jump to the front of the list.

By the way, this may be the only time that Cricket is really happy to be declawed. Did you know that declawing is actually illegal in most European countries? It is considered a barbaric act. Technically, it is like amputating their digits… they aren’t just fingernails, as one would think. They can have life-time phantom pain and it often leads to behavioral problems… so do your research and consider alternatives (I love softclaws… little caps that cover the claws and come in a variety of fun color) before declawing your cat.

Cricket (aka Inky) is now looking beautiful in the Adoption Center as she waits for her new home.
