NO VACANCY

When Scott and I purchased our house the plan was to stay there for two years, max.  Then that silly little thing called the “economy” decided that we should stay there longer (please note that I spared you all a slew of swear words and replaced them with “silly little thing”).  But, we recently received word that the housing market in our area is showing signs of improvement… suggesting that it might be a good time for us to try selling.

For the average family, putting a house on the market is a big deal.  For us, it is about as easy as skiing up a mountain backwards – without the snow.  For a reason, that is beyond my comprehension, the average buyer is not attracted to a house where five or more dogs live (something about people preferring a house that is super clean, quiet and kennel-free… so weird, I know).  Therefore, listing the house comes with a major (HUGE, GIGANTIC) compromise:  I have to stop taking in new fosters.  Thinking about this makes my whole body hurt and my stomach upset.

However, the alternative is to stay in a house that doesn’t fit our needs appropriately.

My biggest fear is that we are going to miss out on helping lots of needy animals and still not be able to sell in the long run.  (ugh!)  Of course, we can’t even get serious about listing until our current three fosters find homes.

All of this was just a way of saying that the crazy Westberg house currently has “NO VACANCY”.

Of course… if you know me at all, you know that I am as fickle as a pickle and by the time you read this, I will probably have taken in a new foster… thinking that maybe we can squeeze in one more before we list… so I wouldn’t put money on this anytime soon!
