She Arrives!

After fostering 130+ dogs and spending countless hours with hundreds of others, I keep expecting the anticipation to wear off.  But it never does.  I think this is my little reminder that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

After spending this weekend raising funds for a puppy I have never met, she came home!  Scott picked her up on his way back from work tonight.  She showed up with a small wound on her forehead, a shaved leg from the surgery that she won’t put down and a tail that wags every time I look at her.

Day One

She is tall and lanky, skinny and desperate for love.   The Vet described her as a lab mix.  I am not convinced.  She is so tall, that I almost think she is a greyhound mix.  Once she fills out with food, I believe her appearance will change and we will know better.

I continue to call her “she” as a proper name has not been determined yet.  I am stuck on a few of them, “Eve” for the proximity for Christmas, “Promise” for the amazing future that so many people have promised her, “Payne” for the road that she was found on, or “Banks” for the extreme generosity of the people at the Bank I work at.  I always pictured the world of banking to be a cold, hard, deceptive place.  Instead, I am surrounded daily with people that are warm, generous, giving and only want to do what is best for the world.  It may not be where I thought I would be in my career, but I think I am where I belong and I am so fortunate to be there!  (Oh jeez, are those tears in my eyes?)

Tonight, I will sleep on it… maybe her name will come tonight while I snooze.  It wouldn’t be the first time.  Of course, some thought the name “Hiccup” was terrible… it is still my favorite though!
