My Motivation

What my blogging bug really needed was some motivation… and I found it, or rather, it found me.  In the form of a puppy.  Surprised?  Me neither!

Last Friday, I took a late lunch in order to meet a contractor at the house.  When I returned, there were five messages from people that I work with talking about a puppy.  After several conversations, it turned out that a brand new employee at the Bank accidentally hit a puppy as he was driving home from work.  He described a horrible scene to me of a puppy springing up off of the ground, blood coming from her nose and ears… but he was just relieved that she was alive!  Fortunately, he is a huge animal lover and rushed her to a vet.  There, he paid for her emergency treatment and sought further help… which eventually ended up as me.

Well, those 21 showings have ended up in the sale of our house… or so they say… I will believe it when the paperwork is signed (next Thursday, btw).  This means that I have been desperately trying to get down in my foster numbers because this girl is going to be renting!  And let’s face it… dogs and rentals just don’t play well together.

I spent the weekend desperately searching for someone that would take this puppy… not to mention her large vet bills.  No luck.  I considered it carefully and finally realized, I am where she belongs.  She fell into my lap and my lap is always welcoming.  So, then the real hunt started… for funds to cover her surgery.  While she survived the crash, she also suffered a broken leg, requiring surgery…. never cheap!

And… to keep a long story, long, this is where my motivation came in.  With no owner to be found, she was facing euthanasia, before even being given a name.

I sent a desperate plea out to everyone I know (or almost know) asking for anything they could spare.  Always shocked by the generosity of people, they did it again!  We raised enough funds to cover her surgery and a little more.

But, all of this has been to catch you up to where we are now… photos and details to follow.
